All Welcome!

This is the first this year in our Albany Writers Read series, sponsored by the School of English and Media Studies on Massey's Palmerston North, Wellington, and Albany campuses, and co-hosted here in Auckland by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Our two speakers, Thom Conroy, Head of the Expressive Arts section of Massey's School of English and Media Studies, and Alice Miller, 2014 Artist-in-Residence on Massey University's Manawatu Campus, both have recently published books to celebrate. Thom's novel The Naturalist, an account of pioneering German Natural Scientist Ernst Dieffenbach's 1839 vist to New Zealand, has been topping the local bestseller lists for a few weeks now. Alice's debut collection The Limits, published simultaneously in the UK by Shearsman Books, has been attracting favourable comment from some of our most discerning poetry judges (on Paula Green's NZ Poetry Shelf blog, for instance).

Both authors will read from and discuss their work, followed by a book-signing.

Light refreshments will be provided.
